All you need to know about new Rs 10 note introduced by RBI

The Reserve Bank of India on Friday introduced a new Rs 10 banknote in a new series and chocolate brown colour.

The new banknote will bear the signature of RBI Governor Urjit Patel and will have motif of Sun Temple, Konark on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage, the central bank said in a statement. The dimension of the banknote will be 63 mm x 123 mm.

RBI also clarified that all the banknotes in the Rs 10 banknotes issued in earlier series will continue to be legal tender.

Here are the salient features of the new banknote:

On the front side, the note will have:

• See through register with denominational numeral 10
• Denominational numeral ?? in Devnagari
• Portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre
• Micro letters 'RBI', ‘???? ', ‘INDIA' and '10'
• Windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions ‘????’ and RBI
• Guarantee Clause, Governor's signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards right of Mahatma Gandhi portrait
• Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right
• Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype (10) watermarks
• Number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side

The reverse (back) side will have:

• Year of printing of the note on the left
• Swachh Bharat logo with slogan
• Language panel
• Motif of Sun Temple, Konark
• Denominational numeral ?? in Devnagari
