Congress party, in a statement released on Tuesday, stated that its Delhi unit President Ajay Maken has not resigned, news agency ANI reported.
The statement added that Maken is facing some health issues and will be back soon.
"He has some health issues and has gone for a check-up. He will be back soon. He had recently met party President Rahul Gandhi and party in charge of Delhi affairs PC Chacko," the party stated.
Congress' clarification came shortly after reports of Maken's resignation went viral.
BJP spokesperson, Harish Khurana tweeted out on Tuesday over reports of Maken's resignation.
"I have heard that Ajay Maken has resigned as Congress' Delhi president. It is suggestive of an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, say it out loud, why to fool the public?" Khurana's tweet read.
