After murdering Shailja, Major Handa told his wife a dog had come under his car

Police sources said he apparently told his another lady friend living in Delhi's Patel Nagar area about Shailja's murder.
According to police sources, Major Nikhil Handa who mercilessly murdered the wife of another Army Major, cleaned his car and then went to his wife and told her that a dog was killed under his car.
Shailja Dwivedi, 35, was last seen in a CCTV footage inNikhil Handa's car who allegedly slit her throat and drove his car over her twice to make it look like an accident. Nikhil Handa had met Shailja in 2015 and had become obsessed with her, police had said earlier.
After committing the murder, Handa destroyed Shailja's mobile phone and went to visit his son at the hospital. Handa borrowed Rs 20,000 from his uncle and started moving around with his cousin. He then left his cousinat Delhi's Akshardham and left the city.
Police sources said he apparently told his another lady friend living in Delhi's Patel Nagar area about Shailja's murder. The police have already interrogated this lady friend. Handa has told the police that he wiped the car with a towel and burned Shailja's clothes, which the police do not believe, sources said.
The police suspect Handa had told a member of the family about Shailja's murder.
The police are yet to recover the murder weapon. Handa has been sent to four-day police custody for further interrogation.
