Lok Sabha polls 2019: West Bengal leads in voter turnout 3 hours after polling began

Three hours after the second phase of polling commenced on Thursday, West Bengal is leading in terms of voter turnout with 16.77per cent electorates having already exercised their franchise.

The turnout in Manipur is 16.60 per cent whileChhattisgarhhas recorded at 13.09per cent at 10am, according to data provided by the Election Commission.

In Chhattisgarh, voters have braved the threats of Naxals and have come out in large numbers to cast votes in three constituencies which are voting.

In Bihar, voter turnout has touched 10.10per cent in the first three hours, while Uttar Pradesh, which has eight constituencies going to polls, has clocked 9.35per cent voting till 9 am.

Among other states going to polls, voter turnout in the first two hours in Odisha is 6.75 per cent, Karnataka 7.60per cent, Jammu and Kashmir 5.86per cent, Tamil Nadu 6.85per cent, Maharashtra 6.60per cent and Puducherry 7.48per cent.

The second the phase of polling is being held in Assam (five seats), Bihar (five seats), Chhattisgarh (three seats), Jammu and Kashmir (two seats), Karnataka (14 seats), Maharashtra (10 seats), Manipur (one seat), Odisha (five seats), Tamil Nadu (38 seats), Uttar Pradesh (eight seats), West Bengal (three seats), and Union Territory Puducherry (one seat).
