AAP vs LG: Mamata, 3 other CMs ask PM to resolve standoff 'immediately'

Mamata Banerjee said Sunday she and three other chief ministers had asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the stand off between Delhi Aam Aadmi Party government and the Lieutenant Governor immediately. 

The three other chief ministers she said were Pinarayi Vijayan (Kerala), Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh), and HD Kumaraswamy (Karnataka). 

"I along with the Hon’ble CMs of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala have requested Hon’ble PM today to resolve the problems of Delhi government immediately," Mamata tweeted. 

All four of them had on Saturday asked the Lieutenant Governor for permission to visit Kejriwal who has been at a sit in in the LG's waiting room since Monday. 

When the LG refused permission, the chief ministers visited Kejriwal's home as a show of support. 

All four are chief ministers of non-BJP-ruled states and their coming together could also be read as a sign of opposition unity. 

Kejriwal's sit in began after he and some of his cabinet colleagues went to Raj Niwas to ask the LG to intervene in the Delhi IAS officers' "strike". When he refused to meet with them, they began their protest. 

The IAS officers say they are not on strike and have even released photographs showing officials at work. 

The AAP government says the officers do attend meetings called by its ministers, nor do they take phone calls from ministers. 

Delhi's AAP government and its bureaucrats have been at loggerheads ever since an alleged attack on the Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by two AAP MLAs. The attack allegedly took place at Kejriwal's residence and in the presence of the chief minister.
