In a horrific incident, around 10 persons including a 5-year-old girl were killed and as many as 15 persons sustained critical burn injuries following an explosion at a firecracker factory at Bahabalpur village in Odisha under Sadar police station in the district on Wednesday afternoon.
According to sources, the incident took place around 4 pm today while around 30 workers were preparing firecrackers at the factory in the village for Diwali to be celebrated tomorrow.
Suddenly the crackers exploded causing the death of many on the spot. The injured persons were rushed to the nearby hospital.
Being informed about the incident, ambulance and fire officials rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
The death toll in the mishap likely to increase, the source informed.
