6.0-magnitude earthquake strikes Nicobar Islands region; no tsunami warning

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck Nicobar Islands region on Thursday.

According to the report, tremors were felt around 8:30 in the morning.

No tsunami warning has been issued byIndia Meteorological Department.

No report of any casualty or infrastructuredamage so far.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the quake had a latitude of 7.6 degrees north and longitude of 94.5 degrees east. It was at depth of 84 Kilometre.
