Delhi: AAP rival Atishi alleges Gautam Gambhir holds 2 voter IDs; court hearing on May 1

An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader on Friday filed a complaint against cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir on Friday alleging that he is holding to two voter IDs from two separate constituencies.

Atishi Marlena, AAP leader and East Delhi Lok Sabha candidate, filed a criminal complaint in the trial court seeking direction to police to investigate Bharatiya Janata Party's Gautam Gambhir.

The complaint has been filed under Section 155(2) of the Representation of the People Act at Tis Hazari Court. The court will hear the matter on May 1, news agency ANI reported.

As per Section 17 of the Representation of the People Act, no person is entitled to be enrolled as a voter in more than one constituency.

Gautam Gambhir recently joined Bharatiya Janata Party. He replaced Maheish Girri as the party's candidate and will take on Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Congress and Atishi of the AAP.

Delhi, where seven Lok Sabha seats are at stake will go to poll on May 12. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.

A total of 173 nominations have been filed till April 24, and the last date of withdrawal is April 26.
