"Mamata Banerjee is lying that anyone who applies for citizenship under CAA will face problems. I have come to assure the people of the Matua community that no one will face any trouble. You will get citizenship and will be able to live with respect in the country. No power in the world can stop my refugee brothers from becoming citizens of India, this is the promise of PM Narendra Modi ji," he added.

"For the first time, the election is about saving the Constitution. Whatever poor, farmers, labourers, backwards, Dalits, Tribals, minorities, poor general cast people have, has been provided by this book (Constitution)," said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. 

He added, "The INDIA alliance, Akhilesh Yadav, Mallikarjun Kharge are working to safeguard the Constitution."

In the last two months, the Election Commission of India has disposed of 90% of 425 complaints. Commission satisfied that overall in the last two months, the campaign space has been violence-free, less noisy, less cluttered and intrusive, free of inducement and ostentatiousness. 

As a measure of enhanced transparency and disclosure, the Election Commission of India suo-motu released a second report on two months of  enforcement of MCC during GE 2024. The first report was released on April 16, 2024.

A PIL filed to bar Prime Minister Narendra Modi from contesting elections for allegedly making hate speeches during election campaigning was not entertained by the Supreme Court. 

The court also dismissed another petition which sought direction for the Election Commission of India to address hate speeches made amid election campaigns, especially those made by ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
