Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 'Mamata Banerjee spreading lies about CAA' says Amit Shah

"Mamata Banerjee is spreading lies about CAA. But I guarantee you that no one will face any inconvenience or difficulty. Support us, and you will get both citizenship and respect in the country," Amit Shah said while addressing a public rally in Bangaon.

"Mamata Banerjee is lying that anyone who applies for citizenship under CAA will face problems. I have come to assure the people of the Matua community that no one will face any trouble. You will get citizenship and will be able to live with respect in the country. No power in the world can stop my refugee brothers from becoming citizens of India, this is the promise of PM Narendra Modi ji," he added.

On Rahul Gandhi's statement, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav says, "Those who cannot find people to field as candidates, how can they dream of forming a government."

"For the first time, the election is about saving the Constitution. Whatever poor, farmers, labourers, backwards, Dalits, Tribals, minorities, poor general cast people have, has been provided by this book (Constitution)," said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. 

He added, "The INDIA alliance, Akhilesh Yadav, Mallikarjun Kharge are working to safeguard the Constitution." 

In the last two months, the Election Commission of India has disposed of 90% of 425 complaints. Commission satisfied that overall in the last two months, the campaign space has been violence-free, less noisy, less cluttered and intrusive, free of inducement and ostentatiousness. 

As a measure of enhanced transparency and disclosure, the Election Commission of India suo-motu released a second report on two months of  enforcement of MCC during GE 2024. The first report was released on April 16, 2024.

A PIL filed to bar Prime Minister Narendra Modi from contesting elections for allegedly making hate speeches during election campaigning was not entertained by the Supreme Court. 

The court also dismissed another petition which sought direction for the Election Commission of India to address hate speeches made amid election campaigns, especially those made by ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, while speaking to ANI, said "The elections held in J&K were conducted very well. People want to send a message to Delhi (Centre) that the decisions taken in 2019 (abrogation of Article 370) are not accepted by the people of Kashmir. I want to inform the ECI that polling was disturbed in the places where people gathered to vote for the PDP..."

Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh said, “I will only say that the Nehru family exploited India. They cheated on the poor. Today, PM Modi came for them as their saviour.”

Ahead of filing nominations, a BJP candidate from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut said, "The people of Mandi and their love for me have brought me here. Women in our country are making a mark in every field but incidents of feticide in Mandi were high a few years ago. Today, the women from Mandi are in the Army, the field of education and politics..."

On Congress, she said, "The anti-national mentality of the Congress party is a matter of concern for the country..."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the DM office in Varanasi, to file his nomination for Lok Sabha Elections. He is the sitting MP and BJP's candidate from Varanasi. 

Ahead of BJP candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat, Kangana Ranaut filing her nomination, her mother Asha Ranaut said, "The public have come here to support. We will definitely win. She has done a lot of work for the people and will do so in future too..."
