“After staying out of power for just 10 years, they (Congress) have started talking about igniting fire in India. Will you punish such people? This time don’t let them be in the field. Congress doesn’t have faith in democracy now. Congress wants to push India towards anarchy and instability. In Karnataka, a Congress leader spoke about dividing the country into two parts. Shouldn’t those who talk about dividing the country be punished? Instead of punishing him, the Congress gave their leader an election ticket,” said PM Modi.

The Congress party criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his visit to Uttarakhand, alleged rampant unemployment and a deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

In a series of posts on X, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed that the BJP government has been "disappointingly ineffective" in addressing the state's biggest challenges of unemployment and migration.

"In 2021, an RTI revealed that 5 lakh people have migrated out of the state in the last 10 years – and the rate of migration is only increasing. National Statistical Office (NSO) data from 2020 shows alarmingly high rates of unemployment, with nearly one third of Uttarakhand’s urban youth being unemployed….What is PM Modi’s government doing to stem this mass exodus from the state, to solve the pressing unemployment crisis, or at the least to end this constant stream of paper leaks?" he asked.

Ramesh also expressed hope that the PM will take this opportunity to address three key questions "about why his government has failed" to make any meaningful improvements in the state.

In response to Atishi's allegation that the BJP tried to coerce her into joining them or face arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has accused Arvind Kejriwal of fooling her.

"No one except Arvind Kejriwal has fooled you. He has destroyed several lives before her," said Sirsa in a video statement on Tuesday (Apr 2).

He challenged Atishi to reveal the name of her close aide who allegedly received the threat from the BJP.

"Atishi claims that he has gotten a message. She should reveal the name of her close aide so that the ED can arrest him."

Sirsa stated that the BJP would not accept a corrupt leader like Atishi "and even will not allow her to walk outside its office".

He also hinted at a power struggle within the AAP, suggesting that Kejriwal wants to put them in jail instead of making them Chief Minister.

"When Arvind Kejriwal gave their names to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), they felt that they are the next in turn because Kejriwal has given them away."

"This is because Arvind Kejriwal does not want to make them Chief Minister. He wants to put them in jai. So they are scared," he said.

Other BJP leaders, including Harish Khurana and RP Singh, supported Sirsa's stance, accusing Atishi of creating a sensation and diverting attention from real issues. They claimed there is an internal tussle within the AAP for the Chief Minister's post.

"This is their internal tussle, which is coming out again and again in different manners. The truth is that action will be taken against all whose names are involved in the matter…It is clear that the fight for the CM post has begun in AAP. Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi are on one side and Sunita Kejriwal and Arvind Kejriwal are on the other side," said Singh.

"The lotus will bloom 100 per cent here. People are now fed up with the dictatorship of a family (Nath family), the hooliganism of a family and with the pressure of a family. We have said that we will provide them protection. Anyway, there is a BJP government at the centre and in the state. If the BJP MP wins, then development will definitely happen. People have understood this and this time they are joining the BJP willingly for development," he said.
