'Too BORING': Ronaldo says he can't 'watch football' amid Brazil's Copa America struggles

Legendary Brazil striker Ronaldo has revealed that he cannot watch football matches anymore as he doesn't enjoy the sport. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner said he instead prefers tennis and can watch it for hours at end.

Ronaldo was speaking at theMouratoglou Annual Charity Gala over the weekend where he made the rather shocking revelation.

“I think I love tennis more now than football," Ronaldo told those in attendance.

“It’s unbelievable. I cannot watch football matches, I think it’s too boring, but I can stay for five hours watching tennis, it’s crazy," he added.

Ronaldinho says he won't watch Copa America

Ronaldo is not the first BrazilWorld Cup-winning player to have grown disinterested in the sport. Earlier this month, Ronaldinho went on an astonishing rant where he claimed that the new crop of players did not have any love for the Brazilian jersey.

“This is a sad moment for those who love Brazilian soccer. It’s getting hard to find the spirit to watch the games. This is perhaps one of the worst teams in recent years, it has no respectable leaders, only average players for the majority," he posted on Instagram.

"I’ve been following football since I was a kid, long before I thought about becoming a player, and I’ve never seen a situation as bad as this. Lack of love for the shirt, lack of grit and the most important of all: football,” Ronaldinho added.

The 2002 World Cup-winning player announced that due to the poor standards of the team, he would not be watching the continental tournament.

“I’ll repeat, our performance has been one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. Such a shame. I therefore declare my resignation. I will not watch any CONMEBOL Copa America game, nor celebrate any victory."

However, a few days later, Ronaldinho backtracked on his statements and said he made the comments to fire up the Selecao to give their best in Copa America.

The trick may not have worked as Brazil played a laborious goalless draw against Costa Rica. Despite having the lion's share of possession, Brazil could only manage three goals on target in the entire match as the Costa Rican backline held their own firmly.
