Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam admitted to hospital amid news of cardiac-related issue

Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam has not been keeping well for some time now.

Earlier today, the filmmaker was rushed to a hospital after he complained of cardiac issues. He is currently in Chennai’s Apollo Hospital.

Reports suggest that he complained of chest pain following which he was rushed to the nearby hospital.News of his hospitalisation was first announced on Twitter.

The first time Mani complained of a similar problem was when he was filming ‘Yuva’ in 2014 with Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan.

The filmmaker is known for giving major hits including ‘Bombay’, ‘Dil Se’, ‘Raavan’, ‘Roja’, ‘Ok Jaanu’ and ‘Guru’ among many others.

Reportedly he is currently in talks with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on a period film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. It is said that ‘Baahubali’ actress Anushka Shetty has also been approached for a pivotal role in the film. Talking about the news of her confirmation for the film, Aishwarya said, “What I will commit to is because even though Mani (Ratnam) hasn't formally announced it himself but the word is out. So yes, I will commit to the fact that yes, I am working with him. I won't say I agreed...I will always be more than thrilled, excited, overwhelmed, humbled and just happy to work with my guru, Mani.”
