TV series 'Cops' taken off air after 32 seasons in the wake of protests in America
'Cops' will not be back on TV for Season 33.
After 32 successful seasons, TV series 'Cops' is being pulled down by Paramount Network permanently amid protests in America against police brutality on African-Americans.
The announcement comes shortly after the series was pulled from the air in response to the growing civil unrest spurred by the death of George Floyd while in police custody.
The show's 33rd season premiere was scheduled for Monday.
"'Cops' is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return," a Paramount Network spokesperson said in a statement.
The reality program followed on-duty police officers and first aired in March of 1989.
The show had recently become the subject of scrutiny as it often depicted questionable behavior by police officers on the job.
'Cops' is not the only TV show that has been axed amid protests. Another show called 'Live PD' would also not be aired anymore. The show followed the careers of police officers.
