Tiger Shroff on his action-hero image: Glad that Bollywood stereotypes its actors

Ever since his debut in 'Heropanti'in 2014, Tiger Shroff has been associated with action films mostly. The star, who enjoys a strong fan base is best known, has been known for his dance moves and awe-inspiring stunts.

In Punit Malhotra's new film 'Student Of The Year 2', the actor claims he has done a different role- a stark contrast from his previous characters.

Does he feel that Bollywood stereotypes its actors? "Bollywood definitely stereotypes its heroes,' admitted Tiger while promoting SOTY2 in the capital a few days back. But the actor is quick to add that he is glad that such stereotypes exist.

"I feel blessed that there is a stereotype. There is so much competition between the actors, so much talent that the film industry has now. How does one stand out? Having a particular identity has helped me to connect with the audience. The stereotype has helped me to stand out and create my individuality in this industry," said the actor.

The actor admitted that he chose to do SOTY because it made him step away from his genre. " Karan (Johar) Sir and I met during the making of 'Baaghi 1'. And we kept meeting and one day he asked 'how would you like to play the lead in 'Student Of The Year 2'? I was very happy and said 'I'd love to do it' and rest is history."

A sequel of 2012 hit film 'Student Of The Year', SOTY2 marks the debut of actresses Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.

Ever since the film's first trailer came out, the makers have been receiving flak for depicting an unrealistic picture of college-life in the film. Does he feel that the film will have a wrong influence on his young fans?

"In no means does the film try to preach the wrong message. The film has an important message which you get to know only once you watch the film. We have only shown the fun element of the film in the trailers. The film in no way tries to misguide the youth. I connect a lot with kids and I do action films. I don't urge people to go and fight, through my films. Kids still are able to connect. So films don't preach always," the actor said.

Directed by Punit Malhotra, 'Student of The Year 2' has been produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Production. It is set to release on 10th May.
