Rajkumar Hirani's film 'Sanju'- a biopic on Sanjay Dutt's life-has created box office record but has also been criticised for whitewashing Dutt's life. Many aspects of the actor's controversial life were not shown in the film. Now, the actor's sister, Namrata Dutt has reacted to the film and stated that she could not connect to Paresh Rawal and Manisha Koirala.
Paresh Rawal played Sunil Dutt in the film while Manisha Koirala played Nargis Dutt in the film. Both have been lauded for their performances but Namrata feels as a daughter of the veteran star- she was unable to connect with them. "I can’t see anyone portraying my father. He was special. Not that I didn’t like him. I didn’t connect, but I’m not the audience. I’m Sunil Dutt’s daughter, ” she was quoted as saying to an entertainment website.
Namrata, who is married to actor Kumar Gaurav, had a similar thing to say about Manisha Koirala's performance. “She was okay too. Being Sunil Dutt and Nargis’ daughter, it’s difficult to make judgments. If the audience connected with them, it’s great!”
Featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, the film highlights only two aspects of Dutt's life. His addiction to drugs and his stint at rehabs in US and his connection to the Bombay 1993 blast case and is subsequent arrest in connection to the arms act case.
