Ryan Reynolds 'Deadpool' persona to seep into 'Detective Pikachu'

Actor Ryan Reynolds said on April 24that fans can expect a bit of his persona from blockbuster hit 'Deadpool'to leak into in his latest film 'Detective Pikachu', where he plays the titular role.

During an interview in Japan, Reynolds told Reuters that he initially discussed changing his voice when portraying the yellow pint-sized pocket monster, but decided to inject his own personality, which has also been synonymous with the fourth-wall breaking superhero Deadpool.

Staring alongside Reynolds, Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton, who play characters that help Detective Pikachu solve a mysterious case.

Smith and Newton, both self-professed Pokemon fans, said being cast in the film was a dream come true and helped them reconnect with their childhood.

The first live-action Pokemon film, based on the widely popular game and anime, hits US theatres on May 10, 2019.
