After the sudden news of Hollywood star Luke Perry’s death came out yesterday evening, his ongoing hit series ‘Riverdale’ suffered a major setback.

In the wake of Perry’s death, the makers of ‘Riverdale’ have announced that they have suspended filming on the series on Tuesday to allow the cast and crew some time to grieve their co-star.

‘Riverdale’ executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Jon Goldwater, along with producer Warner Bros. TV and The CW, issued a statement: "We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time."

Perry suffered a stroke and was in the hospital for a couple of days now. The 52-year-old actor played Fred Andrews in the hit series.

He was best known for playing Dylan McKay on Fox's 1990s teen drama ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’.
