British screenwriter Ray Jenkins passed away, he was 87

British screenwriter Ray Jenkins is no more. Jenkins, who has written many popular British TV shows including The Woman in Whiteand The Sweeney,has died. He was 87.

Jenkins passed away last month on January 16, as his agent has confirmed to Variety. No cause of death has been revealed yet.

"Ray Jenkins was a hugely talented and respected writer who made an enormous contribution to the industry," his agency, Casarotto, told Variety. "He is deeply missed by all those who knew him."

In his decades-long career, he has written many TV shows, radio shows, and films. However, his work on British police and justice-related series from the 1960s to the 1980s was critically acclaimed and loved by the audience, per Variety.

Bornon September 1 1935, Jenkins issurvived by twochildren, Pascale and Ceri.

One of the famous 80s shows included The Sweeney,which starred John Thaw and Dennis. The other shows of Jenkins are:Z Cars, The Brothers, This Man Craig,Circles of Deceit: Kalon,Special Branchamong others.
