Raveena Tandon case: Mumbai Police confirm actress was not drunk, give clean chit to her driver

Raveena Tandon and her driver have been at the centre of a controversy over an incident that took place on Saturday. A viral video shows the actress being heckled by a mob outside her Mumbai home. The video shows a group of people harassing her and alleging that her car hit them.
The video was widely circulated on social media and shows Tandon pleading the crowd to not hit her. Some have even suggested that the actress was drunk when the incident took place.
Now, a source close to the actress hastold the HindustanTimes that Tandon was not drunk.“The other party admitted, in front of the police, ‘Agar gaadi chhu jaati toh’ (what if the car had hit us), which means they weren’t hit by her car. They attacked her driver. She asked him to go inside the house. It’s a false claim that he ran away.” Further, the source adds, “In the CCTV footage from June 1, Tandon’s car doesn’t hit anyone.”

The actress was also accused of hitting some people in the group.“They created a ruckus at her bungalow’s gate in Bandra, Mumbai. Tandon was trying to calm them, saying, ‘Please don’t hit him (the driver)’, which is visible in the video. Her watchman was also dragged by the group. Mumbai Police havetaken statements from Tandon’s staff. The group manhandled her, which is why she got angry and had to fight back for her safety. She stood in front of her gate and stopped them from entering (her house) as her kids, Rasha and Ranbir, were inside," the source added.

Corroboratingwhat the source claimed, Mumbai Police too has confirmed that the actress was not drunk.
"The complainant gave a false complaint in the alleged video. We checked the entire CCTV footage of the society and found that the actress'driver was reversing the carinto the society when this family was crossing the same lane. The family stopped the car and said to the driver that he should check if people were behind the car before reversing and an argument started between them," Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajtilak Roshan told a media portal.
The DCP added that the argument escalated into abusive language and Raveena Tandon came to the spot to check on her driver. "The actress tried to protect the driver from the mob; however, the mob started abusing her." The DCP added that nobody was injured in the incident.
