Looks like Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming film 'Lakshmi's NTR' has run into troubled waters before its release. Scheduled to release on 1st May in Andhra Pradesh, the film's content seems to have created a bit of a stir in the state. On Monday, RGV was to address the press in Vijayawada to promote the film. But the director was literally turned back from the Hyderabad airport itself by the police.

As RGV landed at the Airport on Sunday, Andhra Pradesh police prevented him from entering the city and the filmmaker was asked to return to Hyderabad. RGV took to Twitter to slam the police and tweeted," I am In police custody now for the only crime of trying to tell truth ..THERE IS NO DEMOCRACY IN ANDHRA PRADESH.

The filmmaker alleged that his Instagram and Facebook had been blocked in which he had planned to do a live boadcast. " "Sorry to inform that the press meet at 4 pm is cancelled because the police stopped us and have barred my entry into Vijaywada and forcibly sending me back to hyderabad ..Hey @ncbn WHERE IS DEMOCRACY ? WHY IS TRUTH BEING BACK STABBED?" the director tweeted.

Earlier, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had approached the High Court, seeking an order to stay Lakshmi's NTR’s release due to elections.
