Known for making big -budget historical sagas, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker's latest film 'Panipat' narartes the historic battle between the Marathas and Ahmed Shah Abdali in 1761.
The film's trailer was unveiled on Tuesday, and it gives a sneak peek into the epic battle that the Marathas fought against Abdali's army. According to the makers, the film narratesMaratha Empire's struggle to safeguard Hindostanfrom Afghan ruler and his army. The Commander-in-Chief of the Maratha army led a northern expedition in order to repel the invading forces of Ahmad Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt), the King of Afghanistan.
Arjun Kapoor plays Maratha warrior Sadashiv Rao Bhau, the commander-in-chief who led an expedition in order to repel the invading forceswhile Kriti Sanon plays his wife Parvati Bai and Sanjay Dutt plays Ahmed Shah Abdali in the film.
The film also stars Padmini Kolhapure, Mohnish Behl and Suhasini Mulay in pivotal roles.
Owing to the canvas of the film, it has been in the making for the past one year. The film is now slated to release on 6th December.
