After the Election Commission of India gave a breather to the makers of 'PM Narendra Modi' to release their film anytime after May 19, the film will come out in the theatres on May 24.

Speaking on hisfilm finally getting a release date, Omung Kumar, director of the film said,"For us, the film PM Narendra Modi is a piece of art, we have put a lot of hard work into making the story come alive and we are grateful that the film will finally be available to audiences. The team is elated that their work will see the light of day and we hope everyone enjoys it."

The makers had initially planned to release the film on 12th April- a day after the first phase of elections began. But certain members of the Congress Party raised an objection and filed petitions in Bombay and Delhi High Court to stall the release of the film. They even appealed to the Election Commission to intervene.

While the courts gave the film a clean chit, EC stayed the release of the film stating that the contents film flouted the model code of conduct. A special committee was created to watch the film and submit a report to the Supreme Court. The committee too stated that the film could not be released during the election season and would be released only after the elections.

The biopic will bring to the fore the journey of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Damodar Modi from his humble beginnings to his years as Chief Minister and onto his landmark win in the 2014 election.

The film is produced by Sandip Ssingh and has Vivek Oberoi play the titular role.
