Billie Eilish would agree that this has been the best year so far in terms of her professional achievements as she has topped the charts with her identifiable music, has made it to prestigious awards where she has been nominated in important categories and has been handed out awards too.
She was recently nominated at Grammys 2020 in six categories, then she won at American Music Awards in the category of New Artist of The Year. But this is not it.
Billie Eilish has now been named 2019 Woman of the Year at Billboard's Women in Music event that will happen on December 12.
In a statement, Hannah Karp, Billboardâs Editorial Director said, âBillie has disrupted the entertainment industry through her music and social media platforms, leaving an indelible impact on the global cultural zeitgeist. Her ability to speak to the Gen Z population, making teens and young adults feel accepted in todayâs society, has quickly allowed Eilish to grow to the top of the charts, breaking the mold for this generation with her electric hair color and sharp attitude."
Billie Eilish is now the youngest artist ever named Billboard's Woman of the Year. In August, the singer landed on No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 list dethroning the longest-running No. 1 hit in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 (19-week leader âOld Town Roadâ by Lil Nas X, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus). Her song âBad Guyâ achieved this feat.
Meanwhile, at the event, Billie Eilish will be joined by Taylor Swift, who will be named Billboard's inaugural Woman of the Decade, as well as Alanis Morissette (Icon), Nicki Minaj (Game Changer), Brandi Carlile (Trailblazer) and Roc Nation COO Desiree Perez.
The event will have Hayley Kiyoko as host.
Previously, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift have been named Women of the Year.
