MTV VMAs 2018: Camila Cabello, Childish Gambino win big; see full list of winners

The Video Music Awards took place in New York at the Radio City Music Hall.
As one of the biggest night for the United States music industry, MTV’s Video Music Awards show took place in New York at the Radio City Music Hall, we saw some new stars pick awards for entertaining the worldwide music lovers with their chartbusting songs and videos.
As the show was all about music videos and the ideas behind them, those performances that stole the night were by artists including Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Maluma and of course, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipient Jennifer Lopez.
Apart from being about music, the show like every year set some fashion statements with stars looking their absolute best in the snazziest attires.
The biggest awards of the night, MTV’s Artist of the Year and Video of the Year went to Camila Cabello for her hit single ‘Havana’. She is ex-Fifth Harmony band. Camila looked beautiful in a deep indigo coloured gown as she received the award from Madonna at the stage. She was, however, dissed by some on social media for being given the award over Ariana Grande and Drake who some thought deserved it more.
Meanwhile, Childish Gambino won three awards for his wildly popular track, ‘This Is America’ which included Video With a Message, Best Direction and Best Choreography.
The late DJ Avicii was posthumously honoured with Best Dance Video for ‘Lonely Together’ featuring Rita Ora. Beyonce and Jay-Z took home Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction for their recent track ‘APES**T’ while artists like Taylor Swift and Drake were snubbed.
Madonna gave a tribute to late Aretha Franklin in a 10-minute long speech for which she was criticised on social media.
