‘We have voted, have you?’: Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia share picture with inked finger after casting vote

The polling for the third phase of the Lok Sabha election is underway in 93 seats across 12 states and union territories across the country. Using their right to vote, Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukhand his actor wife Genelia D'souza cast their vote in Latur, a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Earlier in the day, Riteish along with wife Genelia and mother Vaishali Deshmukh were spotted at a polling booth. For the unaware, Riteish is the son of former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

In the video, Riteish, Genelia and Vaishali Deshmukh can be seen standing in a queue at a polling booth as they wait for their chance. Dressed casually, the Ved actor was seen wearing a blue kurta. Meanwhile, Genelia was wearing a floral-printed yellow saree.

Later, the actor posted a picture showing him, his wife Genelia and his mother, as all of them posing with their inked fingers. Sharing the photo, he wrote, ''We have voted, have you?''

Interacting with the news agency ANI outside the polling booth, the couple encouraged people to step out of their homes and vote.

Mentioning that he has travelled from Mumbai to Latur, his hometown, to exercise his right to vote, the actor said, “I came to Latur from Mumbai to cast my vote. Everyone should come out of their houses and cast votes. Today is an important day. Everyone should definitely vote.”

“This is an important day. Voting is important. Every citizen must go and vote. I think this is very important,” said Genelia.

Lok Sabha 2024 Elections

The Indian general elections began on April 19. And, today (May 7), the third phase of elections arebeing held across the country in 93 constituencies across 11 states and Union Territories including Gujarat (25), Karnataka (14), Maharashtra (11), Madhya Pradesh (8), Uttar Pradesh (10) and West Bengal (4), Chhattisgarh (7), Assam (4), Bihar (5), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (2), Goa (2).
