'Little Women' trailer: The March sisters are all set to come back on the big screen

A still from 'Little Women'

Author Louisa May Alcott’s beloved 1869 novel 'Little Women' is all set for all new screen adaptation. The film's trailer was recently released and features an impressive set of names in the main lead. Directed by Greta Gerwig, who made the critically acclaimed 'Lady Bird', the film features Saoirse Ronan, Eliza Scanlan, Florence Pugh and Emma Watson as the March sisters. Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, Laura Dern and Bob Odenkirk form the supporting cast.

While the film is scheduled to hit theatres in Christmas, the trailer gives a sneak peek into the beautiful story which may have been written centuries ago but still holds relevance in present times.

A coming-of-age story of four sisters in post-civil war America, the film focuses on strong-willed Jo March who wants her book to get published.

In an earlier interview, Gregwig stated that Jo March serves as a personal hero to her. "This feels like an autobiography,” Gerwig, who also penned the screen adaptation, told Vanity Fair about her connection to the novel. “When you live through a book, it almost becomes the landscape of your inner life. … It becomes part of you, in a profound way."

The film will be releasing on December 25.
