For Bengalis, it is a six-day-long festival which is marked by Mahalaya, Shashthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Navami and Vijayadashami.

People follow age-old rituals to welcome Goddess Durga to their homes and they pray all day.
