Kannada actor Duniya Vijay arrested for abducting and assaulting gym trainer

Kannada actor Duniya Vijay and three associates have been sent to a 14-day judicial custody by a city magistrate on Sunday as they were charged with abduction and assault of a gym trainer in Bengaluru. The other involved are Duniya’s car driver, his personal gym trainer and another person.

It is reported that Duniya allegedly assaulted Maruthi Gowda on Saturday night. They met at a bodybuilding competition at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan in Vasanthnagar, Bengaluru, and got into a heated argument which led to fisticuffs. The accused then allegedly abducted Maruthi in the Duniya’s car and continued to assault him in the moving vehicle.

The case came to the public eye after Maruthi’s uncle Krishnamurthy alias Panipuri Kitty filed a complaint with the police. Assistant commissioner of police Ravishankar called Duniya but he did not respond. They then called Maruthi’s phone which was answered by Duniya, who was then asked to report immediately to the police station.

Upon his reach, Duniya was arrested. He was accompanied with Maruthi.

The actor has been charged on the counts of assault, kidnap, criminal intimidation, and wrongful confinement.
