The wait is finally over. After a delay of seven long months, CM Vijay's film Jana Nayagan is set to release. It ran into multiple hurdles, first due to a court case over the CBFC certification issues.

On July 15, the political drama is now confirmed to hit theatres on July 23, 2026. Days after the reports started circulating, KVN production has confirmed the release date.
‘’Tested by fire. Forged by time. Built for history. The tougher the battle, The louder the victory,'' the production house wrote.
One of the most anticipated Indian films, Jana Nayagan marks a landmark moment in Thalapathy Vijay’s illustrious cinematic journey. As audiences across the globe eagerly await his final outing on the big screen, the film promises to be a fitting tribute to a career that has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
The film finally received clearance from the Central Board of Film ‘A’ certificate. The CBFC reportedly asked for 12 changes before clearing the film, including edits to references to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), dialogues, scenes featuring the national flag, and others.
More details about the film and its promotional campaign will be revealed in the coming days
What was meant to be a Pongal treat on January 9 turned into a seven-month delay. Despite being submitted to the CBFC on December 19, 2025, Jana Nayagan did not get its certificate due to a string of objections. The Cold War intensified when the producers took legal action against the board. The entire controversy happened when Vijay was in the middle of campaigning for his political debut in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. In April, the movie even got leaked on social media.
