House of Dragon season 2: Makers drop two trailers so that it's easy to pick a side

First time in the history of HBO shows, the GOT prequel series House of the Dragon has dropped two different trailers for season 2, urging fans to pick a side. Divided into Team Black and Team Green, there are two versions of the events that unfolded in the Dragon Land and makers want you to grasp the severity of the situation and pick a side before you stream season 2.

The two trailers dropped on March 21 and teased the season premiere on June 16. With some months left for season 2, makers want you to revise your story and pick between Rhaenyra’s black faction or Alicent’s green team.

Everything to know about House of the Dragon season 2 trailers

The first trailer is about Team Black led by Rhaenyra, who claims to be the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. She along with Prince Daemon and their forces on Dragonstone wage a fight against Team Green for the Kingdom. The other trailer shows reasons why you should side with Team Green led by the King’s Landing team of Alicent, her father Otto and her children King Aegon and Prince Aemond.

Season 2 of House of the Dragonis expected to be more dramatic than season 1 since it will kickstart what we have heard all along onGame of Thrones – Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war which led to the downfall of the House of Targaryen. These events took place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Season 1 ended with Aemond murdering Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys and his dragon. It led to a resounding war cry from Team Black which wants to avenge the young boy’s death. Now, both the blacks and the greens are gathering their forces to face a bloody war for the Iron Throne.

Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, young King Aegon is doubling down on his claim to the Iron Throne, which his half-sister Rhaenyra views as her rightful inheritance from their late father. There is also a glimpse of Winterfell in the new trailer. At the moment, it is under Cregan Stark.

House of the Dragon is based on George RR Martin's novel

The House of the Dragon is based on author George RRMartin’s book Fire & Blood, which details the history of House Targaryen. Season 1 followed Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) in her fight to be named the chosen heir of King Viserys I (Patty Considine) and the lead-up to the war of succession between the Targaryens.

The season 2 cast includes Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, Eve Best as Rhaena Targaryen, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Fabien Frankel as Criston Cole and Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon Targaryen.

New faces joining the series include Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh Hammer, Tom Bennett as Ulf and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne. Other newcomers are Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong. The cast also includes Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Phoebe Campbell, Bethany Antonia, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.

The show is co-created by Martin who also serves as the executive producer.
