Game of Thrones' Kevan Lannister, actor Ian Gelder, dead at 74

British actor Ian Gelder is no more. The actor most famously known for his role in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, as Kevan Lannister, died of complications from bile duct cancer. He was 74 at the time of death.

The news confirmation came from his immediate family as his partner, Ben Daniels shared an Instagram post and wrote, “It is with huge huge sadness and a heavy heart broken into a million pieces that I’m leaving this post to announce the passing of my darling husband and life partner Ian Gelder.”
The post further read, “Ian was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in December and yesterday he passed at 13.07. I’d stopped all work to be his carer but neither of us had any idea that it would all be so fast.”
His partner went on to say that Ian was a “wonderful actor and everyone who worked with him was touched by his heart and light.” He wrote about his uncertain and lonely future, adding that he doesn’t know what to do “without him by my side”.
Talking about Ian's fight with cancer, Daniels said that he coped with it with “such bravery and no self-pity”.
Ian played Lord Tywin's younger brother in GoT
Ian Gelder played the younger brother of Lord Tywin Lannister in 12 episodes of the HBO series Game of Thrones. The show was a massive rage while it aired.
Apart from playing one of the Lannisters, Ian appeared in several TV shows including Doctor Who, Snatch, Fifteen-Love, Casualty, Father Brown, The Bill, Edward the King, I Thought You’d Gone and others.
A veteran actor, Ian Gelder also appeared in many classic productions like The Crucible, The Taming of the Shrew and The Front Page.
