Director Denis Villeneuve's work lineup - Dune 3 confirmed, a movie on nuclear war in talks
Denis Villeneuve has long expressed his desire to turn Dune into a trilogy.
Following the stupendous success first and second parts of Dune's, the third sci-fi franchise is in the works. For the third film, ace director Denis Villeneuve is continuing his collaboration with Legendary Entertainment.
Villeneuve's Dune 3 will be an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s second book ''Dune Messiah'', and will be developed by Legendary Pictures. After the conclusion of the third part, Villeneuve has another exciting project lined up.
The next filmthat's inthe discussion is an adaptation of the best-selling non-fiction book ''Nuclear War: A Scenario'' by Annie Jacobsen.
As per the Deadline, Villeneuve will start his work on the movie based on Annie's Pulitzer Prize finalist, after wrapping up his work onDune 3. Villeneuve is likely set to produce, adapt and/or direct the new movie.
Jacobsen’s book, which hit the stands on March 26, “explores a ticking-clock scenario about what would happen in the event of a nuclear war, based on dozens of exclusive new interviews with military and civilian experts who built the weapons and have been privy to the response plans and have been responsible for those decisions should they have needed to be made.”

The talks around Dune 3 have been doing the rounds for a time now, with even the director many times hinting about the possible things that the audience would see in the forthcoming movie. However, the movie is yet to get a green light from Warner Bros.
Months before the release of Dune 2,Villeneuve told South Korean press, that “Dune Messiah” is “being written right now.''
He said, ''The screenplay is almost finished but it is not finished. It will take a little time…There’s a dream of making a third movie…it would make absolute sense to me.”

The sequel starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Bulter, Florence Pugh, and many more, has been earning record-shattering numbers at the box office. So far, the movie has amassed $630 million worldwide.
Released in 2021, the first Dune movie grossed $402 million globally.
