Dolly Parton won’t return to touring, announces ‘multimedia symphonic storytelling’

Dolly Parton doesn’t want to return to her touring days. In a new announcement, the veteran singer revealed that her fans will have an opportunity to see her music performed in a concert with orchestral renditions of her hit songs. Also, the singer will participate via appearances on a big screen but not come live for the audiences.

She is calling the whole experience a “multimedia symphonic story-telling experience”. The dates for the same are for the year 2025.

Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony will begin from 2025

She has titled this Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony. This was announced by Dolly Parton and her co-producers on the project, Schirmer Theatrical and Sony Music Publishing. The first tour dates are March 20, 2025 and it will begin in the Nashville Symphony. Dates for other cities will be released soon.

According to the announcement, Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony will feature “Dolly’s songs and the stories behind them in an innovative multimedia symphonic experience featuring Dolly on screen, leading audiences in a visual-musical journey of her songs, her life and her stories.” The programme will have the orchestras “accompanied by guest vocalists and musicians” and feature “new and innovative orchestrations” of her signature songs.

In a statement on the same, Dolly Parton said, “I’m just so excited to share my songs and the stories behind them in this beautiful new way. Threads: My Songs in Symphony is like a journey through the heartstrings of my life. I hope we can take it far and wide to symphony orchestras everywhere.”

Dolly Parton had first spoken about giving up on her touring days in 2022 Pollstar cover story. She said at the time, “I do not think I will ever tour again, but I do know I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore. I’ve done that my whole life, and it takes so much time and energy.”
