DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow gets release date

The DC Universe is finally coming together with new additions and storylines. Ever since it was announced that the House of the Dragon lead star Milly Alcock will front DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, excitement has been palpable amongst those who have always wanted a feature on the teen superhero.

Now, we have our hands on the premiere date of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow which will be the second feature from the newly rebooted DC Universe. The feature will be released on June 26, 2026, on Imax. This follows Superman by James Gunn. The film stars Milly Alcock as the titular Supergirl aka Girl of Steel with Craig Gillespie directing. The film’s script is by Ana Nogueira.

The story centres on Supergirl who is taken away from Earth as she travels through the cosmos with her trusty canine, Krypto the Superdog in order to escape a life stuck under the shadow of her cousin, Superman. On her adventurous travel, she meets an alien girl named Ruthye who wants to exact revenge for the death of her father and recruits Supergirl for the same.

Milly Alcock was announced as Supergirl after her breakout performance in the first season of HBO’s House of the Dragon. It caught James Gunn’s attention. She screen-tested for the role, including wearing the Supergirl suit on the set of Gunn’s Superman.

Meanwhile, James Gunn’s film, Superman is currently in production. It is set to debut on July 11, 2025.
