Aamir Khan and Suriya might come back with a sequel to their immensely popular film Ghajini. If recent reports are to be believed, both actors have liked the idea of Ghajini 2 and have agreed to work on the film franchise simultaneously. This means Aamir will shoot for the Hindi version at the same time as Suriya works on the Tamil version.
The idea is to make sure that both the Hindi and Tamil versions of the film find their suitable audience at the same time.
Neither of the actors is reportedly interested in going for a remake and therefore, talks are on about shooting Ghajini 2 together and releasing both versions on the same day.
A report by Pinkvilla quoted Suriya confirming the news of his interest in Ghajini 2. While promoting his latest film, Kanguva, Suriya said producer Allu Aravind had recently cracked the idea of the second film in the franchise, and he quite liked it.
He said, "Ghajini 2 was, actually, surprising that you asked me now. After a long time, Allu Aravind came up with that idea (for a sequel) and asked if that would be possible. I said definitely sir, we can think of it. Yes, the talk has started, the things are in process. Ghajini 2 might happen."
Sources close to the production house have said that even Aamir is keen to work on the project. Aamir wants to work on a fresh script and not make a remake of the Tamil version, the source stated.
"Shoot of the two Ghajini films to happen at the same time. With things going Pan India, remakes of cult films with popular stars are a thing of the past now. Both Suriya and Aamir Khan are excited by the idea of Ghajini 2 but don’t want the remake tag on their film. They are also concerned that the film arriving first will take away the novelty factor and conveyed their concerns to the producers. On hearing about both the actors, Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena came up with a solution of shooting the two Ghajini films at the same time frame and bringing them to the big screen on the same day."
The Tamil version of Ghajini, starring Suriya and Asin, was released in 2005. Aamir's Ghajini was a remake of the Tamil film and was released in 2008. The Hindi version marked Asin's debut in Bollywood. If everything goes according the plan, Ghajini 2 will have its structure in place by mid-2025.
