If reports are to be believed, Fawad Khan's movie The Legend of Maula Jatt will not be released in India.
The Pakistani movie was set to release in Punjab, India, on October 2. However, since the announcement, the release of the movie has faced significant criticism. As per the Indian news agency, ANI, the movie is not being permitted for release in India.
According to reports, the Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt is not being permitted in cinema theatres in India. The decision has been taken as Indian films have not been permitted in Pakistan since 2019.
This was the first Pakistani movie that was set to release in India in over a decade. For the unversed, a ban had been imposed on Pakistani artists and films after the Uri attack in 2016.

Since the announcement of the movie's release in India, it has faced a significant backlash from several politicians.
Earlier this month, Ameya Khopkar, president of the MNS Cinema Wing told ANI that they will not allow the release in India.
Khopkar said, "This movie will not be released. Not just this movie, we will not entertain any Pakistani film or actors in India... If this happens, there will be a strong agitation."

Directed by Bilal Lashari, the movie starring Fawad and Mahira Khan, is Pakistan's highest-grossing movie. Originally released in 2022, the movie has earned Rs 400 crore (Rs 4 billion).
The period drama is a modern remake of the iconic 1979 film Maula Jatt, which is among the cult films in Pakistani cinema.
The film features Hamza Abbasi, Fawad and Mahira in pivotal roles.
