Fawad Khan returns to Bollywood

Prayers seem to have been answered as Fawad Khan, currently in the news for his upcoming show Barzakh, is set to return to Bollywood after eight years. A report by Filmfare suggests that he has signed a movie opposite Vaani Kapoor and the film will go into production in the next few weeks. The Pakistan actor was last seen in Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil alongside Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor. The first phase of the shooting will get underway in London. More details about the project are being kept under wraps.

Fawad has done some notable Hindi films, including Kapoor & Sons and Khoobsurat.

The Uri attackin 2016 led to tensions between India and Pakistan, with several Pakistani actors facing a ban from working in India. In November 2023,the Indian Supreme Court rejected a plea seeking a ban on any kind of engagement with Pakistani artists in India. Earlier, the Bombay High Court also dismissed a similar petitionstating that it is a “retrograde step in promoting cultural harmony, unity, and peace” and lacked merit.

Fawad Khan's claim to fame

Fawad won several Indian hearts when we saw him in the Pakistani dramas Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. He starred opposite Mahira Khan in the former, while Sanam Saeed was his co-star in the latter. Fawad then entered the Hindi film industry and carved a space for himself. He will soon be seen in Zindagi and Zee5's Barzakh, a supernatural thriller laced with hints of romance. The trailer of the show was released recently, giving people a glimpse into the unusual show. The show will release on July 19.
