Faces of Climate Resilience docu-series: An important watch on climate change

The alarming rate at which the environment is changing around us is something to be taken note of. Climate change is no more a term that we loosely discuss but something that we are experiencing and adjusting to daily. Flooding of cities is now a common occurrence even as cities and towns grapple with water shortages. Hills are no longer as cool as they used to be during our childhood as deforestation and lack of water create an unprecedented resource shortage. The drastic climate changes are mostly due to humans, as we continue to overexploit and undervalue resources. Something that is beautifully highlighted in the series of documentary shorts that have been backed by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water. The 17-part docu-series Faces of Climate Resilience highlights the work of unsung heroes in remote villages and towns of India.
Some tackling forest fires, to some raising awareness of climate change among slum dwellers in big cities, to some providing weavers with proper infrastructure after floods, to some planting trees to save their villages, the stories are truly heartening.
Each episode spans a little over 3 minutes but gives a solid account of how some Indians are taking the initiative to make their environment and neighbourhood a better place to live in.
From villages of Uttarakhand, and Orrissa, to towns of Kerala and Rajasthan and Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra, these samaritans have been spreading awareness, educating the next generations on how to preserve resources and stop the degradation of natural habitats through scientific but easy steps.
The project is in collaboration with India Climate Collaborative, Edelgive Foundation, and Drokpa Films and strives to make climate change more tangible through the lived experiences of people.
Shot in various states in nine months from 2021 -22, these short episodes give one hope that all is not lost just yet, thanks to the initiative of a handful of good citizens who are not only taking strides to make their environment better but also passing their knowledge to the next generations for a better tomorrow.
