New Star Wars trilogy in works

A disappointing news for Star Wars fans. Amidst a lot of new project announcements, an untitledStar Wars movie that has been in the news for a while now has been removed from the 2026 release slate.

The new Star Wars film of whihc not much is knownwas supposed to be released on December 18, 2026.

After pulling the movie from the release calendar,Disneyhas given the slot toIce Age 6.The newly announced film will hit the theatres onDec 18, 2026.

Another Star Wars film that has garnered the headlines is the one with director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. This film will be set after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and will revolve around Daisy Ridley‘s Rey.This film was first mentioned at the Star Wars Celebration in London in April 2023. A lot ofStar Wars movies have been announced over the years. But there has been no update on any.

In 2023,Marvel President Kevin Feigeconfirmed that his upcoming Star Wars project which was announced in 2019has been scrapped.

Other Star Wars films that are on the release calendar are The Mandalorian and Grogu, the first Star Wars movie to hit the big screens after The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Directed by Jon Favreau, the movie is scheduled to premiere in May 2026. The film is a spinoff from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.Another untitled Star Wars film is set to release on Dec. 17, 2027.

The new reshuffling happened a week after Disney announced Simon Kinberg as the writer of a Star Wars trilogy. Kinberg will also produce the trilogy along with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that this trilogy will follow new characters and will not be a continuation of Skywalker Saga, which consists ofnine films.

Meanwhile, Ice Age 6 was announced at D23 Brazil. Ray Romano, Queen Latifah and John Leguizamo will be reprising their voice roles.
