Now that CW’s ‘Batwoman’ will have a new actress play the lead role after Ruby Rose stepped down, makers plan on bringing a change in the character than just replace her. The new lead will not be Kate Kane as initially planned.

The show is expected to go for a new identity of Batwoman. This comes from the fact that comic superheroes always have alter-egos.

According to Deadline, the new lead character is named Ryan Wilder and is younger than Katy Kane. She will be in her mid-to late 20s.

The season 2 of the CW show ‘Batwoman’ will chronicle how she becomes a superhero.

The deadline report further states that Ryan Wilder is “likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed” and “nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before her.”

In May, ina shocking turn of events, actress Ruby Rose who played the leading role in CW’s drama series ‘Batwoman’left the Warner Bros. TV drama after one season. The show has, however, been renewed for season 2.

In a statement, Ruby Rose said, “I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season. This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.”

“I am beyond appreciative to Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created. Thank you Peter Roth and Mark Pedowitz and the teams at Warner Bros. and The CW who put so much into the show and always believed in me. Thank you to everyone who made season one a success – I am truly grateful.”
