Salman Khan and Bhagyashree’s Maine Pyar Kiya will return to the screens for the first time after it was first released 35 years ago. The innocent chemistry between Salman Khan and Bhagyashree set the tone for Salman Khan’s future romantic roles. Celebrating their romance, the film is set to return to theatres on August 23. It will celebrate the film’s 35th anniversary.
Rajshri Productions made the announcement on its official Instagram page. They posted a collage of two photos, featuring the leading duo. They captioned the post, “It's time to relive their 'Pyar Bhari Dosti' as #MainePyarKiya re-releases on 23rd August 2024 in selected PVRINOX Pictures and Cinepolis India theatres.”

Fans flocked to its page and thanked the makers for bringing it back to theatres with many asking which cities it will be available. One wrote, “Maine pyaar kiya release in Jalandhar please,” while another wrote, “Thank you so much @rajshrifilms . Waiting to watch it in Bengaluru”.
A film by Rajshri Films, Maine Pyar Kiya was a huge hit commercially. It turned both Salman Khan and Bhagyashree into stars overnight. The film was directed by Sooraj Barjatya. The film’s iconic dialogue, “Dosti ka ek asool hai madam...No sorry, no thank you” is still remembered.
Maine Pyar Kiya also featured Alok Nath, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Rajeev Verma and Ajit Vachani. The film is based on the lives of Prem and Suman and their journey from friendship to love.
Bhagyashree made her film debut with Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989 alongside Salman Khan. Salman entered Bollywood with Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988, but it was this film which brought him into the spotlight. It was in Sooraj Barjatya’s films that Salman Khan played the Bollywood lover boy. His films withthe director like Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Hum Saath-Saath Hain still make for an important part of his success in the Hindi film industry.
