Salman Khan firing incident: Two men alleged to have shot at actor's residence arrested from Gujarat

The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested two suspects for allegedly firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence on April 14. The two shooters were nabbed by the police on Monday night fromBhuj, Gujarat.

While speaking to news agency ANI, an official said, "Both the accused, who fled Mumbai after the firing, have been arrested from Gujarat's Bhuj."

The two will be brought to Mumbai for further investigation, according to the police.

The suspects were identified as Vicky Sahab Gupta, 24, and Sagar Shrijogendra Pal, 21, both reportedly belonging to Masihi in the West Champaran district of Bihar.

Firing outside Salman Khan's home

Two unidentified men, riding on a bike, opened fire outside Salman's home - Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai in the early hours of Sunday morning. The accused were carrying bags and wore helmets, as seen in the CCTV footage.

In the clip, they were also seen firing towards the actor's house.

Hours after the incident, Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the firing in a Facebook post. The two arrested members are reportedly part of Bishnoi's gang.

Bishnoi is currently in Tihar Jailfor his involvement in multiple high-profile murder cases, including those of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.

Salman Khan's family reacts

According to officials, the bike belonged to a man who lived in the Panvel area of Navi Mumbai. It was found abandoned near the Mount Mary Church, just over a kilometre away from the actor's residence.

Meanwhile, the Khan family told the press that they were 'taken aback by this shocking incident.'

Salman's brother Arbaaz shared a statement on Instagram and wrote, "The recent firing by two unidentified persons on a motorcycle at Galaxy apartment the residence of the Salim Khan family is very disturbing and unnerving. Our family has been taken aback by this shocking incident that took place. Unfortunately, some people claiming to be close to our family and pretending to be the spokesperson have been making loose statements to the media saying it's all a publicity stunt and the family remains unaffected which is not true and these views should not be taken seriously."

"No member of the Salim Khan family has made any statement regarding this incident to the media. At this time the family is helping and cooperating with the police in the investigation of this untoward incident. We have faith in the Mumbai Police and we have been assured they will do everything in their capacity to protect and secure our family. Thank you everyone for your love and support," Arbaaz added.
