Bollywood is once again bringing stories of real-life heroes to the silver screen! This time, Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan are collaborating to transport you to the heroic life of Murlikant Petkar.

But do you know who he is? If not, let's find out!

Murlikant Petkar has lived an extraordinary life. Coming from humble beginnings, he received extraordinary accomplishments with sincere dedication and hard work. He was born in the Peth Islampur region of Sangli, Maharashtra in November 1, 1944. He served in the Indian army as a tradesman known as a jawan in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME). While in EME, Secunderabad, he fought as a boxer.

After suffering nine bullet wounds during the 1965 war with Pakistan, Petkar was left disabled. He opted not to give up once his injuries healed, and he began participating in swimming and other sports again.

Eventually, he got India its first Paralympic gold medal. Petkar won the 50-metre freestyle swimming event, making a new world record with a time of 37.33 seconds. Not just swimming, he was also well-skilled in slalom, javelin, and precision javelin throw.

In 2018, he received the esteemed Padma Shri award. In his 50s, he started working for Telco in Pune.

Chandu Champion is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan. The film marks Kartik's second collaboration with Nadiadwala after Satyaprem Ki Katha(2023).

Filmingconcluded on January 31, 2024. And, it will hit the theatres on June 14, 2024.
