Bollywood actor Govinda was discharged on Friday (Oct 4) afternoon after being treated for a gunshot wound. The actor was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai in the early hours of Tuesday when he suffered an injury due to a gun misfire. 

On Wednesday evening, his wife Sunita Ahuja shared the actor's health update with the media stationed outside the hospital in Juhu, Mumbai and stated that Govinda is on the mend and will soon be discharged.

She shared, “With everyone's blessings, with the blessings of all the fans, he has completely recovered. We are praying for him everywhere. He has a lot of fans everywhere. We are praying for him everywhere, in the temple, in the dargah. With everyone's blessings, he is completely fine. I would like to say to the fans, don't panic. He is completely fine. After a few months, he will start dancing again. Thank you so much.”

The actor was injured when his licensed gun misfired while cleaning his closet on Tuesday (Oct 1). The actor injured his foot in the freak accident. 

Several media reports stated that a small part of the gun's lock was broken, which led to the accidental discharge. At the time of the incident, six bullets were loaded in the gun, and one misfired into his foot.

The actor was rushed to the hospital where the doctors were able to remove the bullet from his leg. His wife was in Kolkata at the time of the incident and rushed back to be at his side. 

On Friday, as he stepped out of the hospital in a wheelchair, he was greeted with loud cheers from fans and press gathered outside. The actor's daughter, Namrata who was seen accompanying the actor was seen getting emotional at the outpour of love that her father had received in the last few days.

Govinda took a moment to thank his fans and media for all the well wishes that they had showered over him in the last few days. "I thank (Maharashtra chief minister) CM (Eknath) Shinde, police and the press. I especially thank my fans for praying so much for me. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their love," the actor said.
