Story highlights

'Bharat' released on June 5 as it tells the journey of a man and a nation together, both called by the same name.

You can call it a perfect Eid for Salman Khan and his fans as his latest release ‘Bharat’ has managed to start with a bumper opening on day 1. Released on June 5, the film struck gold as it recorded a good number at the box office even though it coincided with two other things -- India’s first cricket match in this World Cup Tournament and release of ‘Dark Phoenix’.

According to early estimates, ‘Bharat’ earned more than Rs 45 crore on its opening day. The film released in 4700 screens across India.

His previous releases have been around a much-lesser figure -- 2018 film ‘Race 3’ that released in 4300 screens made Rs 29.17 crore, 2017 film ‘Tubelight’ made Rs 21.15 crore on the first day and 2016 film ‘Sultan’ opened at Rs 36.54 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted earlier today that 'Bharat' is Salman Khan's biggest Eid opener, surpassing first day collections of his previous hit film 'Sultan'. It is also his biggest opening ever as it surpassed the first-day collections of 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' in which he starred with Sonam Kapoor.

While many thought that the film might suffer because of the same day clash with India's first cricket match in World Cup Tournament, the film proved to be a surprise.

The film has so far not only wooed the masses but is also a hit with the critics who have called the film a little exhaustive but entertaining. Read our review here.

‘Bharat’ depicts the journey of a nation through a common man. It also stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff, Tabu and Sunil Grover.
