'Baahubali' becomes the first no-English film to screen at Royal Albert Hall, receives a standing ovation
'Baahubali: The Beginning' was screened at London's historic Royal Albert Hall recently.
It may have been over two years since 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' hit the theatres. But SS Rajamouli's epic two-part film continues to create magic.
The film was recently screened at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall and received a standing ovation from a packed audience.
The prelude, 'Baahubali: The Beginning' had released in 2015 in India and had broken records at the box office and became one of the highest-grossing Indian films worldwide. On Friday, it created a new record as it became the first non-English movie to be screened at the Royal Albert Hall.
The official Twitter account of the film posted pictures of a full-house auditorium. "Baahubali - The Beginning is the only NON ENGLISH film to be played at @RoyalAlbertHall in London ever since its inauguration 148 years ago!" the caption read.
The stars of the film - Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubati - were in attendance during the screening along with filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The film was preceded by a Q&A session with the cast and the director. The visionary director took to Twitter before the event to post a picture with the stars in London. He called it a "royal reunion."
Made with a massive budget of 180 crores, the film made a whopping 650 crores worldwide. It also won a National Award for Best Special Effects, being the first Telegu film to do so.
The film also starred Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, Nassar, Kiccha Sudeep among others.
