Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra and Neena Gupta starrer 'Badhaai Ho' has been steadily growing at the box office. Directed by Amit Sharma, the film opened a day prior to Dushhera and even clashed with another big festive release 'Namastey England'.
Yet the film, through word-of-mouth publicity and great reviews, managed to surpass Namaste England's collection and ran to packed houses over the weekend.
The film has so far earned 56.85 crores within six days of its release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#BadhaaiHo continues its dominance at the ticket windows... Tue biz is in the same range as Mon, which is simply TERRIFIC... Thu 7.35 cr, Fri 11.85 cr, Sat 12.80 cr, Sun 13.70 cr, Mon 5.65 cr, Tue 5.50 cr. Total: ₹ 56.85 cr. India biz.(sic)"
Adarsh believes that the film will continue to have a dream run at the Box Office till 'Thugs Of Hindostan' releases on 8th November. Adarsh had on Tuesday tweeted, "#BadhaaiHo is expected to rake in strong numbers till #TOH arrives in #Diwali... A big total is on the cards, but, of course, much depends on how it fares in Week 2... North India is FANTASTIC and should lead in coming days too."
Based in Delhi, the film is about an elderly couple who realise they are expecting their third child at an age when their eldest son is about to get married. How the middle-class family deals with the unplanned pregnancy forms the rest of the story. A slice-of-life comedy, the film has not only put Ayuhsmann Khurrana one of the most bankable stars in the recent past but has also given a fresh lease of life to Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao's career- who play the elderly couple in the film.
