In an interview recently held at Comic-Con 2022, Bruce Campbell confirmed that the series ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead' will come back in an animated version, giving a fresh start to the series that was cancelled in 2018 after three seasons. He further added that the future of ‘Evil Dead’ will be simpler to show through animation as his voice has not changed much and still closely resembles Ash Williams, the leading man of the franchise.
The ‘Army of Darkness’ actor went on to explain by saying, "You can do the future a lot easier in animation. I still sound like Ash, and you know, my voice hasn't been as beat up as my body has been so I can still do that crap. So I'll still do the video game. And we're already talking about an animated [series]," Collider.com reported.
Campbell had earlier proved his voice ability for the character of Ash, which was initially presented in the asymmetric multiplayer horror game ‘Dead by Daylight', and also when he reprised his role in the newly released ‘Evil Dead: The Game’, which was released in May 2022. There is no information on the release date or the plot of this animated series, though Campbell has given positive feedback on the future of the series in animated form.
‘Ash vs. Evil Dead', which was cancelled after three seasons on Starz due to low viewership in the second and third seasons, is a TV spinoff of Sam Raimi's acclaimed ‘Evil Dead’ trilogy. The series, which premiered in 2015, saw a peak in viewership during the initial few episodes. The number, however, decreased further, and on April 28, 2018, the series came to an end.
The 63-year-old actor reprised his role in ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ as the lead protagonist, Ash Williams. The story picks up years after Ash falls back from the ‘Army of Darkness’, where he leaves his normal life to fight the forces of the ‘Evil Dead’. The series' pilot episodes were directed by Raimi, and it also stars Lucy Lawless, Michelle Herd, Jill Marie Jones, Ted Raimi, and Lindsay Farris.
