Andy Cohen comes out in Jennifer Lopez's support amid criticism over 'unlikeability factor'

Andy Cohen recently defended Jennifer Lopez amid a wave of criticisms targeting the actress-singer. On Friday (June 21) the TV host addressed several negative claims circulating in the media about Lopez, including a Hollywood Reporter article attributing the cancellation of her This Is Me... Liveconcert tour to her alleged "unlikeability factor."

"I mean, I don't think that's correct," Cohen said during the latest episode of his Daddy Diaries podcast.

Cohen's podcast co-host, John Hill, also defended Lopez, suggesting that the pop icon might not be catering to the expectations of overly enthusiastic fans. "They want a struggle. They want you to cry on camera. They want you to be vulnerable to a performative, insane degree," Hill said.

Furthermore, Cohen responded to criticism from Meghan McCain, who claimed on her Citizen McCain podcast that Lopez was "not nice" during her appearance on The View. Cohen recalled a friend's comment, "Well, I mean, she's pissed off a lot of people," but dismissed it, stating, "Whatever. I go, 'Let me say, she's been on 'Watch What Happens Live' four times. She's been lovely and no drama.'"

"She was super game," Cohen added, reflecting on Lopez's multiple appearances on his show, the most recent being in 2018. "I could talk to her about anything."

Cohen also lauded Lopez's performance prowess, recalling her Las Vegas show as a "capital 'S' show," and argued that people criticise her for doing too much. He added, "So it's like, well, okay, what's she supposed to do? Too little? I don't know. It just seems like schadenfreude, right?"

Lopez has been making headlines recently, following the announcement by Live Nation on May 31 that she would be cancelling her tour to spend more time with her children, family, and close friends.

This news came shortly after sources told People that Lopez's marriage to Ben Affleck was experiencing difficulties and that the couple have been living apart but attending events together with their children.
