Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, we saw a number of film celebrities appealing to fans to go out and vote. The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi himself tagged several Bollywood celebrities and asked them to appeal to their fans to vote in this election season.

Actress Alia Bhatt was among the many stars who tweeted in support of PM Modi and asked fans to vote.

But interestingly, while the actress has appealed to her fans to vote, she herself won't be going to a polling booth to cast her vote.

The actress was promoting her upcoming film 'Kalank' with co-actors Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha. When the actors were asked what they were going to do to elect the new government, Varun, Sonakshi and Aditya collectively said, they would vote.

When the interviewer probed Alia, the actress said, "I can't vote." When Sonakshi asked, " Why?" Alia said " Passport"

Turns out that Alia and her mother Soni Razdan have a British passport and hence aren't eligible to vote. In order to vote, they would have to give up their passport and get Indian citizenship.
